2025 Ford Transit 350 High Roof Conversion with Client Custom Requests
This 2025 Ford Transit 350 High Roof conversion was designed to combine rugged durability, off-grid capability, and refined interior comfort in a clean and serviceable layout.
Built on the 149" wheelbase platform, this van maximizes interior functionality while maintaining maneuverability for daily driving and travel. The build integrates a fully insulated interior, renewable solar energy, ventilation and climate control systems, and a thoughtfully designed galley and sleeping area.
Every system was installed with long-term reliability and service access in mind, ensuring the van is both comfortable and easy to maintain.
Interior Comfort & Living Space
Sound Deadening and Insulation
To reduce road noise and improve interior comfort, Kilmat sound deadening was installed throughout the entire van body including all doors.
The van was then insulated with Thinsulate SM600L insulation across the walls, doors, and above the cab headliner. This premium insulation improves temperature control in both hot and cold conditions while maintaining excellent moisture resistance.
Flooring and Structural Framing
The flooring system was constructed using:
¾" Baltic birch structural framing
½" insulated subfloor system
Marmoleum Agate finished flooring
This layered floor system provides strength, thermal insulation, and a durable finished surface that is easy to maintain.
Wall and Interior Paneling
Interior wall panels were built from ¼" Baltic birch and finished with a clear protective coating. This creates a clean, natural appearance while keeping the interior lightweight and durable.
The interior was designed to create a quiet, comfortable environment while maximizing usable storage and functionality.
Bed System
A North-South sleeping configuration was installed using a custom black Heksa bed platform paired with a split folding mattress. This design allows comfortable sleeping while maintaining flexible access to rear storage.
Storage and Utility Features
Interior functionality was expanded with several key upgrades:
Brushed aluminum L-track installed on both sides of the van for cargo and gear mounting
Overhead headliner shelf for additional storage
Front cab window covers for privacy and temperature control
Rear and sliding-door bug screens to allow airflow without insects
Cab Living Area
Seat swivels were installed on the front driver and passenger seats, allowing the cab to rotate and become part of the living space when parked.
Galley & Kitchen
The van includes a compact and highly functional galley system designed for daily use while maintaining efficient use of interior space.
Refrigerator and Cabinet System
A custom passenger-side galley cabinet was constructed to house the NovaKool R3100 refrigerator. The cabinet provides storage while maintaining easy service access for electrical and plumbing components.
Sink and Faucet
The galley includes a TecVan space-saving camper van sink paired with a pull-out faucet with metal cover.
This configuration provides convenient water access while maintaining a compact footprint within the galley cabinet.
Service Accessibility
Dedicated service lighting was installed in the plumbing area and under the sink cabinet to allow easier maintenance and repairs if needed.
Off-Grid Electrical & Solar
The van’s electrical system was designed to support off-grid travel, campsite comfort, and reliable device charging.
Solar Power
A 640-watt rooftop solar array was installed on the Orion Stealth+ Transit roof rack system. This solar system allows the van to generate renewable power while parked or traveling.
Lighting System
Interior lighting includes eight RRE Lilu dual-color puck lights which provide both white lighting and red night-vision lighting options.
Additional maintenance lighting was installed in several system areas including:
Electrical cabinet access
Plumbing access area
Under the sink and microwave cabinet
This ensures key systems can be easily serviced even in low-light conditions.
Charging and Connectivity
Multiple USB outlets were added throughout the van to support charging for devices and electronics.
A WeBoost Drive Reach II signal booster was installed on the roof rack to improve cellular reception when traveling in remote areas.
Audio System
A JL Audio speaker upgrade was installed to enhance the in-vehicle sound system.
Climate Control & Ventilation
Maintaining comfortable interior temperatures was a priority for this build.
Roof Ventilation
An Airplus roof vent fan was installed to provide airflow and ventilation while cooking, sleeping, or camping.
Rooftop Air Conditioning
A Velit 2000R rooftop air conditioning unit was installed in the rear roof bay to provide cooling during hot weather and summer travel.
Exterior Lighting & Adventure Systems
Exterior lighting upgrades were added to improve nighttime visibility and campsite usability.
Exterior Lighting
Lighting installed on the vehicle includes:
Baja lights mounted on the bull bar with dash switch control
Exterior porch-style lighting
Additional rear lighting integrated into the Orion roof rack
These upgrades improve visibility when navigating trails or setting up camp after dark.
Serviceable Electrical Cabinet
The van’s electrical system was designed with long-term maintenance in mind.
The electrical cabinet includes rear access to breakers and fuses, allowing quick troubleshooting and service without removing cabinetry.
This service-first approach ensures the electrical system remains easy to maintain for years to come.
