About Us
Built by hand.
Backed by heart.
We turn vans, buses, trailers — all types of vehicles — into customized living and business spaces that feel like home.
Our Story
It started with family.
New Life Conversions was founded by Tom Birk and Loren Rowland — inspired by Loren's son Tommy and his wife Ashlee, committed van lifers since 2015.
Watching them build a life of freedom on the road sparked an idea: combine Loren's two decades of fine carpentry with Tom's aerospace engineering background, and help other people find that same freedom — without sacrificing the comforts of home or office.
Today we design and build fully custom vehicles, help DIY enthusiasts over the tricky parts of their own projects, and run a full service center for repairs and upgrades — all from our shop in Phoenix, Arizona.
We believe God, through Jesus Christ, has blessed us in order for us to be a blessing to the world around us.
Our WhyCommitted to a stress-free experience for every customer — new and returning.
The Team
A carpenter and a rocket engineer walk into a van…
Every New Life build passes through two sets of hands — one obsessed with beautiful woodwork, the other with systems that never fail.

Loren Rowland
Designer & Master Craftsman
Loren has spent more than 20 years as a finish carpenter and licensed home inspector — which means he builds beautifully and knows exactly what fails when corners get cut. When he's not in the shop, he's usually out archery hunting. He and his wife (an Associate Dean at Grand Canyon University) have four children and six grandchildren.

Tom Birk
Engineer
Tom is a mechanical engineer and a literal rocket scientist — he spent seven years building and launching rockets with Northrop Grumman. Now he points that precision at van electrical, solar, water, and climate systems. He and his wife, a dentist, have two daughters.
